A Man who killed his father with a crossbow and a hammer inside the Main Street Library in 2010 has been sentenced to life, with no chance of parole for 10 years.
Zhou Fang pleaded guilty to shooting his father, Si William Chang, 52, with a crossbow and then crushing his skull with a hammer inside the library, which was crowded with patrons at the time.
Fang’s lawyer argued his client had suffered a lifetime of abuse from his father, which the court described as one of the worst child abuses cases ever seen.
Fang’s mother said she moved with her son to Toronto from Ottawa to escape the older man.
Police have told CityNews that Fang previously served jail time for assaulting his wife.
