Three motorcyclists are facing charges after an incident on Highway 400 near Barrie.

Police say a private citizen alerted them to the bikers travelling well over the speed limit. It was also reported that the vehicles were doing wheelies.

Ontario Provincial Police sergeant Dave Woodford told CityNews Channel one offender is still outstanding.

“Four motorcycles were observed travelling at high speeds so we set up an intercept program. We did locate those vehicles travelling about 165 kilometres an hour. Three of them were pulled over and have been charged accordingly.”

Sgt. Woodford said the motorcycles have been seized and impounded for seven days.

He added that he is certain they will locate the fourth motorcyclist.

Police have been monitoring roadways and waterways this long weekend and Sgt. Woodford says dangerous driving is taken very seriously.

“These are the types of things that cause a lot of carnage on our roads.”
