With students heading back in class on Tuesday, the Ontario Provincial Police are reminding motorists to be cautious in school zones.

More than 800,000 children will be returning to class across the province and police say motorists need to expect the unexpected.

Police say drivers should also be prepared to share the road with school buses.
Drivers are being reminded to always stop and never pass a school bus when its upper alternating red lights are flashing, regardless of whether you are behind the bus or approaching it from the front.

Motorists should also be aware of children walking and biking across the road at intersections. Police say students may be distracted while texting or talking on their cell phones in school zones.
