Anna Leibenko, 24, is back in Canada nearly two weeks after ending up in a coma after falling off a catamaran in Croatia.
The Thornhill woman was on a vacation with friends on August 17 when she reportedly fell from a catamaran, dropping three metres, hitting her head on a ledge and plunging into the ocean.
Leibenko was airlifted to a hospital in Croatia where she was treated for bleeding in the brain and head and face fractures. She has been on life support ever since.
After arriving back at Toronto’s Pearson Airport Saturday morning, she was taken to Sunnybrook hospital by ambulance.
According to a website set up to raise money used to fly Leibenko home, the former Toronto Argonauts cheerleader did not have travel insurance.
The site had raised $140,000 as of Saturday morning.
