Three members of the Toronto Police Service have been charged with assault causing bodily harm after a June arrest.
Ian Scott, Director of the Special Investigations Unit, said he has reasonable grounds to believe the three officers committed a criminal offence during the arrest of Stalin Kiprotich, 26.
According to the SIU investigation, Kiprotich was arrested near Kipling and Finch avenues at approximately 8:30 p.m. on June 4.
During the arrest there was an interaction between the three officers and Kiprotich, who later ended up locked in a cell.
Hours after complaining of a sore chest Kiprotich was taken to hospital where he was diagnosed with three fractured ribs.
Charged are Detective Constable Jason Davis, Detective Constable Keith Osborne and Detective Brian Kay.
