TORONTO, Ont. – Police are requesting the public’s assistance after a number of highly-valuable paintings were stolen from a gallery display in Yorkville.

It’s alleged a suspect smashed the front bay window of the Gallery Gevik, entering and taking the three paintings.

The suspect then fled the scene with the paintings, which are valued at approximately $50,000.

The first stolen painting is an oil on canvas panting by Sylvia Lefkovitz called ‘Harbour scene #2.’

The second is an oil on board painting called “Group of Birches” by Frank Johnston, a member of the Group of Seven.

The final painting is another oil on board called “Beach Litter,” this one by Arthur Lismer, also a Group of Seven member.
