Anyone near Ryerson University Wednesday afternoon might have wondered what the racket was, but it was all in the name of breaking a world record.

The CBC reports about 1,000 Ryerson students broke the Guinness World Record for the largest cowbell group.

The goal was to have 950 people in Ryerson’s quad ringing their cowbells for two minutes, starting with a practice at 1:30 p.m. and going for the record at 2 p.m.

They smashed the former record of 640 in September 2009 in Switzerland.
