TORONTO, Ont. – The suspected remains found on the Gardiner Expressway Tuesday night belong to a pig, according to the Coroner’s Office.

The westbound lanes of the Gardiner Expressway were closed for almost eight hours Tuesday evening and into Wednesday morning as police investigated the discovery.

The pig remains were found along the westbound Gardiner near Kipling Avenue. It was a passing motorist who spotted what they initially thought may have been a human foot along the side of the expressway.

Because police are still searching for body parts related to dismembered Scarborough woman Guang Hua Liu, they said they were not taking any chances with the discovery.

As such, the remains were treated as a potential crime scene and police completed a full search as well as mapped out the area.
