The sight of flashing police lights in your rearview mirror is apparently a common occurrence in Ontario, at least according to one poll.

A new U.S.-based online poll found Ontario was the worst area for speed traps in all of North America.

The National Speed Trap Exchange website, run by the National Motorists Association, gives users a site where they can post the location of speed traps.

After the website crunched and calculated all their postings, they found Ontario was the number one place.
      
Mississauga, which is ranked fifth worst, is the only area in the GTA which ranked in the top five hot spots in Ontario.

Both the Ontario Provincial Police and Ministry of Transportation defended the crackdown, telling the Toronto Star that speed is a factor in the majority of fatal or serious crashes.
