TORONTO, Ont. – Police have confirmed that a man found dead in the city’s east end suffered an extremely violent attack before his death.
George Fawell, 24, was discovered dead in Jimmie Simpson Park, in the Queen Street and Broadview Avenue area, Friday morning.
Detective Sergeant Gary Giroux told CityNews it was one of the worst types of sharp-force injuries he has ever seen.
“This is obviously a very personal attack on the deceased,” Giroux said.
“The deceased and the offender, or offenders in this case, have a tremendous amount of baggage with each other. I do believe that the offenders are in the east end of the city,” he added.
Fawell is the city’s 34th murder victim of the year.
