TORONTO, Ont. – After a tragic death near the Ontario Science Centre, a family is struggling to cope with the loss of a son.
The eight-year-old boy died Saturday after being hit by a car his father was driving near the parking lot of the Ontario Science Centre.
“We’ve had two pedestrians struck near the science centre, as a result we have an eight-year-old who has passed away from the injuries he receive,” said Sgt. Graeme Philipson with traffic services.
The crash, which happened around 11:30 a.m., also sent the boy’s 36-year-old mother to hospital with serious injuries.
Police say it appears the accident happened after the father dropped off the pair and realized something had been left behind in the car.
It was at time police say he appeared to have lost control of the vehicle.
The traffic services unit is investigating and has not laid any charges at this point. They are requesting that anyone who saw the accident should call them.
