Jean-Claude Juncker, the Prime Minister of Luxembourg, is throwing his support behind the embattled nation of Greece.
Juncker recently stirred up headlines when he said a Greek exit from the Eurozone would not be politically feasible.
The euro-group chief said, unless Greece violates all of its bailout conditions, it will stay in the euro zone.
While it is technically possible that such a situation should occur, Juncker stressed that it was probably not politically possible.
The heavily indebted country is already pushing the limits of its obligations, with debt inspectors from the European Commission, the International Monetary Fund and the European Central Bank actively helping Greece with its reforms.
Juncker said that he assumed Greece will double its efforts to reach its imposed austerity targets, which is why he believes the speculated exit scenario will not play out.
Juncker is scheduled to meet with Greek PM Antonis Samaras on Wednesday, when European media reports indicate Athens is expected to ask for more time to implement its austerity.
