A 48-year-old man who was struck by lightning on Wednesday, has died.

Police say the man, who was a migrant worker from Mexico, was working with eight other people in a ginseng field in Norfolk County, near Port Dover. A police investigation determined that the male was in the process of walking back to a vehicle when the lightning struck.

When paramedics arrived on scene the man had no vital signs. Paramedics and medical staff were able to regain a pulse when he arrived at a hospital.

OPP officials say the man died of his injuries on Thursday.

Police continue to investigate the incident.
