TORONTO, Ont. – A child has been rushed to the Hospital for Sick Children after he was found lifeless in a school swimming pool.
It happened around 2:30 p.m., Thursday, at a summer camp running out of Vaughan Road Academy, in the Vaughan Road and Oakwood Avenue area.
Toronto police told 680News the six-year-old boy was unresponsive when he was pulled from the water.
Officials say the quick work of the lifeguard and a camp counselor, who both performed CPR, saved the boy’s life.
“The lifeguard and the camp counselor did a fantastic job. It would have been tragedy if they hadn’t of acted immediately like they did,” Const. Scott Villiers told CityNews.
There has been no word on the child’s condition.
