The city of Orillia has passed a by-law banning the ownership of exotic pets such as snakes, monkeys and tigers.
Current owners are exempt from the ban, but will have to register their exotic animals within 90 days. Violators of the by-law can face fines up to $400.
The new law was passed after five pythons were stolen from an Orillia home earlier this year.
