Cancer Care Ontario has updated their guidelines for cervical cancer screening.
Pap smears are now recommended every three years, instead of annually, starting at age 21 until age 70 for all women who are or ever have been sexually active.
Officials expect that about 550 women will be diagnosed with cervical cancer in Ontario this year, and about 160 women will die from this disease.
