With the end of competition almost here, it is time to bid a fond farewell to London 2012 at the closing ceremonies.
Once the final medals were handed out the closing ceremonies began with a star-studded musical lineup that wowed the crowds.
The full lineup was kept a closely guarded secret, however early names mentioned to perform were George Michael, The Who and the Spice Girls.
By the time things are said and done, more than 4,000 performers are expected to have been involved in the ceremony.
It will all mark the end of the London 2012 Games, which some in Britain are calling the best ever.
“Fantastic, really fantastic, I’ve really enjoyed it, emotional,” said one fan.
“An absolute spectacle, super, we’ve done Britain proud,” said another.
Part of the closing ceremony included the lowering of the Olympic flag in London, where it was handed over to the mayor of Rio de Janeiro, the host of the 2016 Olympic Games.
