BARRIE, Ont. – A man has been charged with impaired driving after a fatal crash near Barrie left one person dead.

The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. Friday on Highway 90, with police initially believing it was a two-car crash.

Further investigation led police to determine there were three vehicles involved.

OPP officials say one of the cars rear-ended another, pushing it into oncoming traffic. The driver of that second car died at the scene.

The first car involved in the rear-ending then fled the scene, later ending up in a ditch.

The identity of the deceased party has not yet been released.
