Certain dried basil may contain salmonella, CFIA warns

TORONTO, Ont. – The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning against the consumption of certain brands of dried basil products because of possible salmonella contamination.
The brands are Valli, Dino’s Grocery, Artisan Tradition, Crac, All Seasons and Jardi.
The federal agency said all affected products were made with the dried basil recalled by Shah Trading Co. Ltd. of Scarborough, last week.
The CFIA says the product have also been sold at three locations in Ottawa – Herb & Spice, New Middleast Supermarket and Mid-East Foods.
These products have been distributed in Quebec, Ontario and Manitoba. However, they may have been distributed in other provinces.
There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.
