Brittany MacLean, who is the youngest member of Canada’s Olympic swimming team, posted one of the fastest times of the women’s 400-metre freestyle heats to qualify for her first Olympic final.
The 18-year-old’s time of four minutes, 5.06 seconds was faster than that of both reigning Olympic champion Rebecca Adlington and world champion Federica Pellegrini.
