TORONTO, Ont. – While the world watches and listens to what’s happening at the London 2012 Games, hockey continues to occupy some Canadians in July.
A Thornhill resident and his neighbours were treated to a special day Saturday, after winning a Facebook contest turning their residential street into an outdoor ball-hockey rink.
The rink was complete with a Maple Leafs logo painted on the pavement, and of course some current and former Maple Leaf players were involved.
Hundreds of people showed up to see the rink and catch a glimpse of Wendel Clark, Phil Kessel and Rick Vaive, among others.
Several former and current Maple Leafs' players descended on a Thornhill neighbourhood where, as part of a contest, a residential street had been turned into a ball-hockey rink.
