The New York Times is dropping its application for Blackberry users, instead focusing on building their mobile website.
However, The Times is still offering content on specific apps for Android and Apple devices.
Research In Motion is struggling to stay attractive to American consumers. Sales in the country fell 47 per cent last year, while RIM’s share of the American smart phone market fell to 12 per cent in the first quarter of this year.
The New York Times is not the only company pulling resources away from Blackberry apps. In November, Google announced it would stop supporting its G-mail app.
