Canadians have to wait almost twice as long as Americans and longer than Europeans for new cancer drugs.
A Fraser Institute report found between 2003 and 2011, 33 new oncology drugs became available. Of those 33, 30 of them got the green light in the U.S., 26 were approved in Europe but only 24 passed in Canada.
The report also found the U.S. Food and Drug Administration takes 182 days to review a drug. In Canada, the process usually takes aboutt a year on average.
