TORONTO, Ont. – There will be an inquest into the death of 7-year-old Katelynn Sampson, who was murdered on August 3, 2008.

The girl’s guardians Warren Johnson and Donna Irving plead guilty to second-degree murder, in April and were sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 15 years.

The Parkdale couple took Katelynn into their home while her drug-addicted mother tried to get clean.

The inquest will examine the events surrounding Katelynn’s death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.

No word on when the inquest will take place.
