WASAGA BEACH, Ont. – A nine-year-old boy who went missing Wednesday afternoon near Wasaga Beach and later located near the water, has died in hospital.
Ontario Provincial Police confirmed the boy’s death, but have not provided further details.
Police said the call came in just before 4 p.m. He was last seen by his family by the water in the area of Kirby Street.
Wasaga Beach fire located the boy offshore at around 6 p.m. He was transported to Collingwood General and Marine Hospital.
The OPP conducted both a water and land search with the assistance of marine units and its helicopter.
