Hamilton police have charged a 25-year-old man in connection with the death of a two-year-old boy in his care.
The toddler was found dead in a Hamilton apartment building.
The investigation began when police were called to an apartment at 514 King St. East around 11:30 p.m. Friday night.
EMS workers rushed boy to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
An autopsy determined his death was the result of a homicide.
The caregiver has been charged with second-degree murder.
It is standard practice across the province for the homicide unit to investigate the deaths of all children under the age of five.
