TORONTO, Ont. – It’s going to be getting more expensive to park on downtown streets, after Toronto City Council votes Friday to raise street parking-meter rates.

Spots that used to cost $3.50 and $2.50 per hour will go up by 50 cents as part of the increase.

Meanwhile, spots that cost $2 per hour will increase by 25 cents.

The move is expected to raise an additional $4 million a year for the Toronto Parking Authority.
