Two people remain in hospital after a pontoon plane crashed into a barge in the Kawartha Lakes area, Monday.
The incident happened in Gannon’s Narrows between Smith Ennismore Lakefield Township and Galway Cavendish Harvey Township around 3 p.m.
Officials say the float plane was attempting a takeoff and collided with a barge.
The pilot was pulled from the plane and had to be revived at the scene. He has been identified as Roy Crocker, 72, of Scarborough and police report he is in grave condition in intensive care.
Police say seven people were onboard the plane at the time of the crash.
Peterborough County OPP Constable Ian McEwan told 680News a 17-year-old staff member was also injured in the crash.
“A second person involved, that was on the barge, was from Camp Maple Leaf, and they have also been transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries,” he said. She is expected to survive.
No children from the nearby camp were on the barge at the time of the collision. Officials say the person injured was an employee of Camp Maple Leaf.
The Transportation Safety Board, Nav Canada and the OPP are investigating.
