The world’s most well-known video site is calling on all comedians.
The “YouTube Next Comic is a contest for online comedians to apply for one of 16 spots.
“There are a number of Canadians who have actually turned their YouTube channels into profitable enterprises,” said Aaron Brindle of Google’s Communications and Public Affairs department.
“Content will always win out at the end of the day, and generally the best content is done by the people who are the most passionate about what they are doing,” he told 680News.
Deadlines for applications are Friday July 13. The 16 YouTube comics will be announced on July 30.
Prizes include $5,000 worth of camera gear and a $10,000 advertising budget.
