NEWMARKET, Ont. – A court appearance for a man and a woman from Sudbury, Ont. accused of unnecessary suffering to an animal has been delayed until August, CityNews reported, after originally being set for Tuesday.
On June 10, a passerby spotted a large dog in a parked car at Vaughan Mills Mall and called police.
Fire crews arrived and smashed the windows to get a one-year-old Lab out of the car, but the animal died a short time later.
Police allege the dog’s owners left their pet in the car while they went shopping as the temperature outside the car rose to nearly 30 C.
Matthieu Arbour, 21, and Angele Lazurko, 20, face a joint charge of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.
Lazurko worked at a pet store, but was fired after the incident.
