TORONTO, Ont. – There’s a battle underway to save 50 Victorian homes in Cabbagetown.
The heritage properties are owned by the Toronto Community Housing Corp., but critics say the homes on seven streets in the northwest portion of the community have been so neglected, the old bricks and century-old wood trim are disintegrating.
Members of the Cabbagetown Heritage Conservation District Committee will appear at a public meeting at the Toronto Reference Library, Tuesday, to lobby for the heritage homes to be moved to the top of the TCHC’s repair list.
A special city working group is trying to prioritize that to tackle first.
There are $750-million in repairs needed on 675 city-owned homes.
