Halton Regional Police have charged a man from British Columbia with fraud in connection a scam involving poker games.

Investigators said the scam could be part of a larger crime ring in the Halton and Hamilton areas, along with other cities in the Greater Toronto Area and possibly across Canada.

The victims are convinced to be part of a poker game, under the guise of wanting to do business with the victim’s company.

Another scam involves a charity event or social setting, but poker games are involved here too.

Peter Andrew Kuti, 64, of Port Moody, B.C., was arrested at a rooming house in the Toronto area on Wednesday. He’s charged with two counts of fraud.

Police are hoping any other victims will come forward.
