TORONTO, Ont. – Toronto has made the top 10 list as the eighth most livable city in the world, according to a survey by the Economist magazine.

The city garnered the high rank due to the amount of greenspace within its borders and a lack of pollution. However, it would have ranked higher if it had more cultural assets or if there wasn’t as much urban sprawl.

American cities Washington, D.C., Chicago, Ill., New York, N.Y., and Los Angeles, Calif., ranked in 14-17 spots, respectively.

Hong Kong topped the list as the most livable city in the world, followed by Amsterdam, Osaka, Paris and Sydney.
