Alkanater brand Tahina recall expanded, may contain salmonella

The recall of Alkanater brand Tahina has been expanded to include additional product codes.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency warns the tahini may be contaminated with salmonella, but so far, there have been no reports of illness.

The affected product is sold in 454-gram containers bearing the UPC 6 92551 00002 0, lot code TT3N-260112 and codes PRO: 26/01/2012 and EXP: 25/01/2014.

It been distributed in Quebec, Ontario, Alberta, Manitoba and New Brunswick and may have been distributed nationally.

The importer, Phoenicia Group Inc., St-Laurent, Quebec, has voluntarily recalled the product from the marketplace.
