Saturday was the last day Torontonians should pay a five cents for a plastic bag.
The three-year old fee will be scrapped as of Canada Day.
However, the Toronto Sun reported that Loblaws e-mailed city council to let them know they will continue to charge the fee past July 1.
They do so nationally, and said the five-cent charge is the best way to reduce the number of plastic bags ending up in landfills.
Single-use plastic bags will be banned in Toronto as of Jan. 1, 2013.
