One hundred people from 38 different countries are celebrating their first Canada Day weekend as Canucks.
They received their citizenship at a special ceremony in Toronto on June 30, ahead of the country’s 145th birthday.
Shahied Gairy said gaining his citizenship has been a long process.
“Some people aren’t fortune to just come to another country and just fall into the same field that you were in before. There’s always recertification and things like that so there’s all these challenges.”
Gairy came to Canada from Grenada seven years ago.
