Pride in full swing; annual Dyke March downtown Saturday

TORONTO, Ont. – Some of the most highly anticipated Pride events are coming into full swing, with the annual Dyke March planned for Saturday afternoon.

The march, which organizers stress is a political demonstration and not a parade, celebrates the beliefs, diversity and strength of queer and trans-gendered women.

The march will begin with a rally at 1:00 p.m. at Church and Hayden Streets.

Around 2 p.m. it will then move north on Church to Bloor, west on Bloor to Yonge, south on Yonge to Carlton and east on Carlton ending at Allan Gardens Park at Jarvis Street.

Finally, the march will end a post-march picnic at Allan Gardens Park around 3 p.m.

Road closures in the area will last until approximately 5 p.m.
