It all comes down to this at Euro 2012: Spain versus Italy, toe-to-toe, Sunday.
The two teams have already played once this tournament, in fact it was the first game for both in Group C.
It ended in a 1-1 tie, but it won’t go undecided this time.
Spain dominated most of the game with a 60 per cent possession rate and 18 total attempts on goal compared to Italy’s 10.
But as most championships teams know, it’s the man between the pipes that steals games, and that’s no different here as Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has been stellar.
Buffon hasn’t let in more then a single goal all tournament, posting two shutouts in regular time.
Spain’s goaltending however has been just a step better, Iker Casillas has four shutouts, and the only goal he let in during regular time was against Italy.
On top of that, Spain is attempting to win back-to-back Eurocups, in 2008 Spain took on Germany in the finals taking that game 1-0.
The last time Italy won the Eurocup was in 1968 and hasn’t been in the finals since 2000.
