Barrie Police say they have identified the body of a woman found in an east-end neighbourhood Friday around noon.
According to the Barrie Examiner, police and emergency crews were called to an area near an apartment building located at 149 Steel St. and located the body in a dumpster.
Police are calling the death suspicious.
“It’s suspicious in nature considering she was found inside a dumpster,” said Barrie police Const. Toni Dufour.
Police say they have notified the woman’s next of kin. Her name is not being released at this time but police say she was in her 20′s.
A portion of Steel St. near Duckworth and Grove streets was closed for the investigation. Steel St. is a few blocks away from Lake Simcoe and close to Georgian College.
A post mortem has been scheduled for Saturday morning.
