Durham Regional Police is warning about a scam that’s targeting university and college students.
They’ve received several complaints about a man calling people, claiming he’s from the National Student Loan Centre, saying he’s following up on a loan application and asks people for their personal information.
Those on the other end of the line are given a fax number and asked to send him things like copies of their passports and Social Insurance Numbers.
Police continue to warn people to keep their personal identification information private and secure at all times.
