TORONTO, Ont. – The shooting deaths of two young men remains unsolved four years later.
On June 13, 2008, Dylan Ellis and Oliver Martin were killed while sitting in a vehicle in the Richmond Street West and Walnut Avenue area.
Both victims were 25-years-old.
Detective Sergeant Gary Giroux told CityNews Channel that there is still no motive for the killings.
“Both deceased men were obviously going to clearly go on to make a huge contribution to the community. They had very supportive families and they were well educated. They did not live criminal, high risk lifestyles. I do not have a reason for why this happened,” he said.
Sgt. Giroux says police are still asking for witnesses to come forward.
“I’m looking for someone within the community to tell me what the motive was for this particular crime and in addition I know that there were witnesses that were in the area who simply have not come forward for one reason or another. I’m encouraging them to do so now.”
On the night of the shooting, Ellis and Martin had been watching a basketball game at a friend’s condo. They were waiting for a friend to bring down a set of forgotten keys when they were shot and killed.
Police say Martin’s girlfriend, who was in the back seat, was saved by the SUV’s tinted windows.
No suspect has ever been named in the case.
