TORONTO, Ont. – TTC officials said a relief subway line is urgently needed in to the city core because the current Yonge-University route is at capacity.
It could be the central issue in the next election: subway construction — which is what Mayor Rob Ford continues to fight for — versus priority building of a relief line in the city core.
According to a report in the National Post, TTC CEO Andy Byford said there in an “urgent” need to provide additional subway capacity downtown — a sentiment shared by TTC chair Karen Stintz.
