A large group of student protestors in Montreal crashed a Grand Prix street party Friday night.

It’s been two nights in a row that protesters have been marching on Crescent Street in Montreal, where Grand Prix festivities are usually held.

Protesting capitalism, and more specifically Quebec’s tuition hikes, the demonstrators clashed with riot police as crowds of party participants looked on.

Police say there have been at least 12 arrests.

The student protests have been affecting local businesses as well.

“There’s so many people in Montreal, still, hotels are not full. It’s the first time ever in 28 years that we don’t have a full hotel,” said Bernard Rageneau, spokesman for the Crescent Street Merchants Association.

The Montreal demonstrations are currently being monitored by a large police presence.

There have been attempts to steer protestors as far away as possible from venues and Grand Prix events being held in downtown Montreal.

The Grand Prix race is set to be held Sunday.
