TORONTO, Ont. – A 41-year-old motorcyclist has died after being a hit by a car in North York.
The accident happened on Lawrence Avenue, west of Don Mills Road, around 3:30 p.m Friday.
Traffic Services Constable Clint Stibbe told 680News the motorcyclist with in the curb lane as a westbound Volkswagen Jetta made a turn into the Shops at Don Mills.
“As that Volkswagen made the left-hand turn, it did come in front of the motorcycle and the motorcycle did strike the passenger side of the Volkswagen,” Stibbe said.
The man suffered serious life-threatening injuries and was transported via emergency run to Sunnybrook Hospital, where he later died.
Lawrence was closed near Shops on Don Mills for the investigation, and has since been reopened.
The 38-year-old male driver of the Volkswagen remained at the scene and has spoken with police. There is no word on charges.
“We’re still trying to determine what exactly happened, and that’s why we are looking for more witnesses,” Stibbe said. “We do have some cooperation from the witnesses on scene – we’re just looking for more if we can get them.”
