Tim Hortons Camp Day raises money for children

Anyone who enjoys a hot cup of Tim Hortons coffee in the morning will be supporting a good cause, Wednesday.

As part of the company’s Camp Day, proceeds from coffee sales will go to the Tim Hortons Children’s Foundation.

“Tim Hortons Camp Day is one day each year where every Tim Hortons restaurant owner donates all of their coffee sales from that day to our foundation,” said Tim Hortons Children Foundation executive director Dave Newnham.

“Our foundation will then welcome economically disadvantaged kids to one of our six camps for an experience of a lifetime for 10 days this summer.”

Children from low-income homes are selected for the camps through an application process.

In 2011, close to $10 million was raised in the single-day fundraiser at the 3,700 outlets across Canada and the United States.
