A teen is in hospital with stab wounds after a fight broke out just east of the city.

Durham regional police told 680News it happened in the Keeble Crescent and Mackin Court area of Ajax shortly after noon Thursday.

Police said two groups of youths who knew each other became involved in a fight and one of the young men was stabbed with a sharp object. His injuries are not life-threatening.

It is not clear what started the fight. About 20 youths were involved. Police are investigating the incident, but so far, no arrests have been made.
