TORONTO, Ont. – A 29-year-old man is facing charges in connection with an incident on the Lake Shore Boulevard, near Rees Street.

It happened Wednesday morning as police were trying to stop a vehicle.

Toronto police told 680News officers were in the area for routine activities when they spotted a vehicle being driven in an erratic manner near Rees Street.

Officers tried to stop the car, but the driver and one of two passengers fled the scene. The other passenger jumped out of the car, dumping a handgun and a quantity of drugs.

He was arrested a short distance from the scene, and police recovered the handgun and illegal substances nearby.

Meanwhile, the suspect vehicle car hit two other vehicles as it continued onto the Gardiner Expressway, before continuing eastbound.

The car was located a short time later at Leslie Street and Lake Shore Boulevard, but no one was inside.

Jameal Johnson, of no fixed address, is facing a slew of charges, including unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle and assaulting a peace officer.

The driver and the second occupant are still at large.
