TORONTO, Ont. – It might be the weekend, but there will be no time off for work crews as they deal with the crumbling Gardiner Expressway.

Concrete chipping work on loose concrete will take place Saturday at Cherry Street and Lake Shore Boulevard as well as at Rees Street and Lake Shore Boulevard.

Lane closures in the area will occur as necessary, according to city officials.

Officials added that the work could continue into Saturday night if crews are unable to finish.

The work on the Gardiner is being sped up after a piece of concrete fell this past week, marking the third time concrete has fallen in less than a month.
