Poll finds Canadians want hockey to be safer

A new poll show Canadians want our national game to be safer.

According to the Environics poll for the Globe and Mail, 90 per cent of fans said they would accept changes to hockey if it meant fewer concussions and head injuries.

Ninety-per cent of respondents also want a ban on all head shots, even those that are accidental, while 72 per cent want a ban on fighting.

The survey also shows two-thirds of Canadians are hockey fans and more than 80 per cent believe hockey is a key part of what it means to be Canadian.
