The alligator that shocked the owners of a Brampton home when it turned up in their backyard is now being cared for at a private reptile centre outside the city.

The metre-long gator was found Sunday afternoon in the Queen and McMurchy area.

Animal control officials still have no idea where the gator came from, but suspect it was someone’s exotic pet.
